We get so much anxiety when we don't see immediate results. THAT IS UNDERSTANDABLE
However, that shouldn't stop us from working towards achieving our goals.
Keep in mind though that setting goals is way easier than achieving them.
I mean... accomplishing your goals isn't meant to be a walk in the park... because if it was, then it wouldn't really be a goal, would it?
Obviously, sometimes it can feel extra difficult - & when that happens, it's time to reevaluate everything... maybe you lack commitment, maybe this "goal" is still just a fantasy... OR maybe you're focusing too heavily on the result.
So lets break it down:
this is for you if you feel like you lack commitment
know this... setting a goal doesn't mean that you have to be mentally committed to accomplishing it. Sometimes, if not most times, acting out on this goal will create that domino effect for your commitment to begin. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
go ahead & break down your goal into tasks - even if your daily life is busy (I get that)... you only need 10-20 minutes daily, just a few hours a week to work towards that particular goal & before you know it you'll be halfway there and fully committed.
this is for you if your goal began with a dream & it still feels like a fantasy
I mean... all goals begin with a dream
When our brain thinks about goals we often focus on the positive, the fantasy, or we dwell on the negative, all the things that can go wrong & everything that you do not like.
SO instead of focusing on one or the other, bring in the art of comparison .... compare the two in your mind.
How...? first, think of the positive aspect you hope to achieve, then compare it to the negative... (sometimes the reality).
This will give the brain a reality check & force you to think about whether or not your goal can be achieved. Think of it like those "pros & cons" lists that many therapist tell you to give a shot when it comes to decision making.
& now.. this is for you if you are focusing too heavily on the result
it is definitely easier to think about the end result, but that can also increase your anxiety level about actually accomplishing the goal.
if you're just focusing about the result then you tend to skip over the steps (the in between).
Instead.. stay task focused. Think about the process, break it down into tasks and look at those tasks as mini-goals. This will help reduce your anxiety & allow you to focus on the process.
Trust the process.
VERY IMPORTANT THOUGH.... Stop putting off your goals, especially if you find yourself going through these bumps in the road, know that you are not alone... just reevaluate & quit procrastinating.
I had a situation recently - where I had set a goal to finish filming all my SOWO Exercise Breakdown videos quickly to have them uploaded.... but I became overwhelmed & that lead to me putting it off.
I was focusing too heavily on that end result - getting all the videos uploaded to my app.
I lost sight of the process... but now, I have set smaller tasks - those "mini goals" and so far I'm advancing more than I ever was before.
You are capable of so much.
