I have that type of personality that if you tell me I can't do it, then I will...
my daughters are the EXACT same way & through them I have learned that that's okay - it's okay to take on the world (or 10 different toys while trying to swim)... what's not okay is being consumed by it all and not letting go when you feel like you're drowning.
Just like my daughters - when they are swimming, they aim to carry it all... but when they are running out of air they rotate to attempt a float & survive.
We need to understand when enough is enough... it needs to become natural.
IF only people who doubted you could maybe rephrase things - instead of "you can't do that"... how about "give it a shot & see how you feel" OR "let's do it together".
... unfortunately, not many will. The best you can do is - thank them for their concerns & remind yourself that you are in tune with how you feel & what you are capable of doing.
However, IF you are not in tune with how you feel then maybe just take that step back & reevaluate... you do not have to drown.
I don't ever want my kids to feel like they're not capable of anything.
I want them to know that they can do it all, they just need to find a balance to things & to be self aware... to listen to their body, mind, and soul.
& of course to not be afraid to let go either. Again.. you do not have to drown.
