How to Set SMART Goals for Personal and Professional Success

Initially,

I started these blog posts to provide motivational content focused on topics like mindset shifts, routine tips, midweek motivation, etc.

& I did that for a good while - every week there would be a post — I did that consistently, for probably over a whole year.

You can still look back at those - they’re all there! They are just 2-3 minute reads.

But I’m going to change it up -

I’m being realistic with my current time so I will not be posting weekly - but I will be posting once a month (for now at least - that might change, who knows).

The end goal is to not just push on motivation but provide a shift between nutrition education and strength programming ideas (which means I’ll have to post more frequently - so for now we’re just finding our groove again).

& I am still not the best writer… I still struggle with words, so at times I am sure that this will all sound like word vomit (which is how my mind works).

Anyways, I hope when you read any of these posts that you are able to at least take one thing from them - something you can apply to your day-to-day (somehow).

Let’s talk SMART goals; setting these kind of goals can clarify your ideas, focus your efforts, use your time and resources productively, and increase your chances of achieving what you really want.

& this is why its labeled SMART:

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Relevant

Time-Bound

I don’t know about you but I need to work through things & have examples to better understand -

So let’s make at least 1 SMART goal together - *does not have to be fitness related - can be personal - professional - whatever

We’re here to support each other to be better versions of ourselves daily.

Here I’ll give you two of mine:

*this one you probably figured I’d write about:

1 - Get back into writing these blog posts; by completing and posting once a month for the remainder of the year (these next 4 months).

let’s break that down:

Specific: write & publish one blog post each month

Measurable: complete and post four blog entries by the end of four months

Achievable: allocate time each week to research, write, and edit the blog post

Relevant: this goal will help improve my writing skills and maintain an active blog presence.

Time-Bound: Publish the first blog post by August 30th, and continue posting monthly.

*now another one:

2- Grow my business by 10 more clients - maintaining a number of 25 monthly by the end of the year

let’s break that down:

Specific: Acquire 10 new clients and maintain a steady client base of 25 monthly.

Measurable: Track the number of new clients added each month and ensure a total of 25 clients is reached and sustained by the end of the year.

Achievable: implement targeted marketing strategies, enhance client retention efforts, and allocate resources to handle the increased workload.

Relevant: expand the client base will contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the business.

Time-Bound: achieve this goal by Dec 31, 2024, ensuring 25 clients are being served monthly by that time.

YOUR TURN

Here's a fun little hack... If you really struggle with putting thoughts into words, download and use ChatGPT.

Put in "write a SMART goal for me with this in mind: [and put some general thoughts & info], then just review what it writes out for you."

Writing these out is just half the work - now you have to put in the effort to accomplish them.
