So in the previous blog I talked about a book I am currently reading "Raising Good Humans" & how it starts by telling you to dig deep... within yourself; focusing on your triggers and asking that very powerful question, "WHY"
Apart from that it has also offered up some exercises to help you practice being less reactive towards life, in general.
- Mindful eating
- Sitting Mindfulness Meditation
- Unhooking negative thoughts
- Breathing practice to release tension
- Writing out your "Yell-Less" Plan
& more...
*I'm only on chapter 3, now...
Today I sat outside, alone... before the girls got up, for 5 minutes; set a timer so that I could avoid looking at my phone & focused on being present - with myself.
Sat down, comfortably, closed my eyes & began to take notice - what my legs were doing, how my arms were feeling, the pain right by my hip, my breath, whatever my body was feeling/doing.
I focused on "following" my breath, and whenever I felt my mind wander off I would just note it, observing without needing to react, & come right back.
When the timer went off, honestly it scared me ... need to find a new sound lol, but I took notice on my surroundings and how I felt in that moment.
Then I went inside, and that's when I DECIDED that today was going to be a good day - that I was going to work on decluttering my thoughts (slowing them down) so that I can be as present as I am able to be.
We are capable of so much & sometimes our mind really does go 10000 mph; I can totally vouch for that - & this affects us more than we think. So the least we can do is work to be better day by day.
One last thing I want to leave you all with, this quote I read from the book:
"when you love someone, the best thing you can offer is your presence. How can you love if you are not there?"
*this also goes for you, your self love.

REMINDER:
Go prioritize yourself:
Your physical health matters.
Your mental health matters.
Your emotional health matters.
YOU MATTER.
