Be Different

It's okay - if your routine needs a switch up.

& I'm not just talking about a workout routine... especially, if you're like me and have your own kind of life routine you follow along with.

by breaking from your usual cycle of things and changing up your schedule, you are more likely to experience less burnout.

The issue is... that when we start considering a schedule change we are probably already burnt out OR right around the corner. When any of us experience this feeling we often do not function as well, usually pretty exhausted and stuck in a rut.

So what do we do... do we just continue to push through, see if the burnout lightens? or do we switch it all up and probably still feel overwhelmed & frustrated at the beginning of it all?

nothing is ever easy, but cutting out of your current cycle would be the better alternative.

That sad routine - will keep you in that rut.

So how do we do it... well keep in mind that your life isn't what it was like a month ago, 3 months ago, 6 months ago, a year ago, etc.... so what worked for you then might not make sense anymore.

Maybe you work schedule changed, your kids stopped napping, your husband got deployed (yup, this is hitting home for me - cause that's my life...) BUT you're still trying to push to keep everything afloat with your same personal life schedule - that's just not realistic.

take a step back - breathe and analyze - be strategic, what needs to change?

*personally, I needed to find the time to get my work & my workouts in while still being present with my daughters. The thing is... not only did their nap change, the whole middle of the night wakings became very intense & draining for me. So there was no way that I was going to get up at 5am to get my workout in & still survive the day without a nap or a break from reality (the fatigue has been surreal; also I steer clear from caffeine).

Instead what I shifted was my work & workout schedule, I inverted it.

I get up at 6am and work for about 1.5 hours, because I can do this from my bed & it is less taxing on my body. For my workouts, I had to be realistic - how many of them could I actually do; while still being able to finish up my house chores & everything in between... well my number is 3. So my split is now focused on Full Body workouts, that I will usually get in at night once the girls are in bed or during the day with them in the backyard.

At first, this shift gave me a mix of feelings - because change is just plain weird & uncomfortable, but I was definitely seeing more positives in this switch up than before so I know that it's only going to get better. & if it doesn't... then back to the drawing board, life is filled with trial & errors - just gotta keep working through them.

So go out of your way - to visit new spots around you, step outside, sample different meals, find a different way to move your body, make time for you, etc. your mind, body, and soul will thank you.
