5am Wake Up

WHY do I get up at 5am?

Simple... because I have other stuff to do throughout the day & I CHOOSE to incorporate my workouts into my life.

If I do not get up at 5am, on the days that I plan, then I will not be able to enjoy my lifts until possibly the next day.

I am not here to put off movement, I am here to better myself physically, mentally, and emotionally.

If you continue to put things off it'll only get harder to start.

There are some major health benefits that come from incorporating physical activity:

Immediate -

Reduces feelings of anxiety

Improves sleep quality

Reduces blood pressure

Long Term -

Improves bone health

Reduces risk of weight gain

Lowers risks of certain cancers

Lowers risk of heart disease, stroke, & type 2 diabetes

Reduces risks of developing dementia & reduces risk of depression

Don't let 5am workouts psych you out in reaching your goals.

IF you really want to achieve what you have in mind THEN fit it into your schedule. ANYTHING is possible, you just have to do it. Quit making excuses, because yes it can be that easy!

HOW do I get up at 5am?

It starts with the night before... I prep EVERYTHING... I get my clothes ready in the bathroom, fill up my water bottle, sometimes I even time my tea to brew at 5am, make sure my workout is written out, I write out my to dos for the next day, and so forth... I get in motion WAY before 5am.

This is huge, because you're already mentally telling yourself that you are going to do what you have planned.

Then I sleep - I use the sleep cycle app to track my sleep & to use slow/low sound transitions to wake me up, so that I don't wake up abruptly from a loud noise (slow/low sound wake ups are 10000% more refreshing).

SOOOO... when my alarm goes off at 5am.. it's all freaking mental... I CONSTANTLY have to battle with myself to get UP (so don't think you're alone on that).

I remind myself that I already have everything ready, that I am not lazy... I am capable of keeping my routine.

Sometimes I have to physically drag one foot off the bed at a time and other times I work out in my pajamas...

Wake up with intention. Remind yourself that you are working hard for a purpose.

*I don't always workout at 5am, but I aim for 3 out of my 5 workouts to be done at that time. So that when the afternoon nap (for the girls) comes around I can focus on work, cooking, house chores, school, etc.

Give yourself that quality time before others wake up.

I'd appreciate if you share this & provide feedback. I’ll be back soon.

REMINDER:

Go prioritize yourself:

Your physical health matters.

Your mental health matters.

Your emotional health matters.

YOU MATTER.
